Make your own Limoncello

Making your own limoncello is crazy easy. You only need four ingredients...vodka, lemons, sugar and water.

Start by using a veggie peeler to get long strips of peel from your lemons. If there is a lot of white pith on them, use a small paring knife to cut that away, as it can add bitterness. Add the peels to a 2 quart pitcher with 750ml of Spring44 Vodka. Let that sit for 4 days at room temperature.

Create a simple syrup in a saucepan with 2.5 cups water and 2.5 cups sugar (if you like it sweeter you can add more sugar). Let the syrup cool once the sugar is dissolved and then pour over the vodka and peels. Let sit overnight.

Strain the limoncello and discard the peels (or create candied peels for garnish on cocktails or desserts!) and it's ready to go. We recommend pouring it into smaller bottles. Seal them well and refrigerate.

If lemons aren't your fruit of choice, use the same process and try any other citrus fruit or even Fragolecello (strawberries - washed, hulled and halved) or Rabarbarcello (rhubarb - washed, stemmed and sliced) or even Cigliegiolo (cherry - washed, stemmed and halved WITH pits). These bottles make great gifts, too.

Serve alone in a small glass after a meal or make a cocktail.
